Regional District of Nanaimo — Wesley Ridge Wildfire After Action Review
Ally facilitated a comprehensive after-action review following the Wesley Ridge Wildfire, strengthening the RDN’s emergency management program.

The rapidly escalating Wesley Ridge Wildfire near Cameron Lake in summer 2025 presented a complex multi-agency response challenge for the Regional District of Nanaimo. The incident necessitated activation of the Emergency Operations Centre and evacuations impacting hundreds of residents. A thorough review was needed to capture lessons from this significant event.
Ally planned and facilitated a structured after-action review process, utilizing surveys and facilitated debriefs to gather insights from responders. This approach focused on validating existing strengths and identifying targeted areas for program enhancement. The RDN actively participated throughout the process.
The findings from the AAR are now directly informing the Regional District of Nanaimo’s ongoing planning, training initiatives, and overall preparedness for future wildfire seasons and regional emergencies. This engagement reinforced the RDN's commitment to continuous improvement in emergency management capability and resilience. The review confirmed existing strengths while identifying opportunities to further refine response protocols.
