Kootenay Boundary Freshet Flooding After Action Review
Ally supported the RDKB in capturing lessons learned following significant freshet flooding to strengthen regional emergency preparedness.

The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary experienced substantial freshet flooding in spring 2023 due to heavy rainfall and rapid snowmelt. Following this event, the RDKB sought a structured process to formally capture organizational experience. The goal was to identify areas for refinement within existing emergency management practices.
Ally conducted an After Action Review utilizing online surveys and a facilitated in-person debriefing session. This approach allowed for comprehensive data collection from key personnel involved in the response. Analysis focused on identifying strengths and developing targeted actions for improvement.
The RDKB formally recognized key organizational strengths through the AAR process, validating existing capabilities. Targeted actions were identified to enhance coordination during future flooding events and other regional emergencies. This engagement strengthened the RDKB’s ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and resilience.
