Public and private educational institutions are tasked with preparing for emergencies that occur in high-traffic environments, and may involve children. Schools encounter a dynamic range of threats and emergency situations, necessitating ongoing vigilance to ensure the highest level of preparedness possible.
Case Study
In 2018, Ally collaborated with the UBC Emergency Planning Team to meticulously plan and conduct a Full-scale Exercise (FSX) simulating an intentional vehicle attack leading to a mass casualty incident. This comprehensive exercise mobilized the complete emergency response infrastructure of the university, with support from various external agencies prepared to intervene in a real-life scenario. Participants utilized this exercise to rehearse the protocols associated with site evacuation, medical response, traffic control, and the intricate public relations aspects inherent in managing a mass casualty event within a university environment.
Participating agencies included:
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police
- Vancouver Fire Rescue Services
- BC Coroners Service.
