Full-scale Exercise

The scenario was focused on a transformer that had dropped off the back of a vehicle as it approached the Warfield facility. The transformer split on impact and spilled PCBs onto the roadway. This triggered an immediate response by the vehicle’s crew and initiated the activation of the FortisBC Warfield Hazardous Waste Emergency Response Plan (ERP).  

The exercise was conducted as a FSX in the field with a concurrent discussion-based Table Top Exercise (TTX) with the EOC participants. The overall exercise focus was on the coordinated on-site response and communications between the FortisBC Warfield Hazardous Waste Facility, FortisBC EOC and Public Affairs Emergency Team (PAET), as well as the responding stakeholders.
