Background
Whitfield comes to Ally with over 28 years of experience in emergency health services, with specializations in Fire Suppression, Fire Inspection, Human Resources, Emergency Preparedness, and Project Management. Whit was Captain of the Emergency Management arm of Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) from 2015 to 2022 where he developed and delivered training and response materials for a wide range of personnel both full-time and volunteer. In this role he was also intimately involved with the planning and execution of emergency exercises with various organizations including City of Vancouver Emergency Management, Vancouver Police Department, City of North Vancouver, University of British Columbia, City of Delta, and City of Saanich. Whit also managed and coordinated training for the City of Vancouver’s Dedicated Fire Protection System (DFPS), Neighbourhood Emergency Assistance Team (NEAT), and the Vancouver Volunteer Corp (VVC) for activation during the celebration of lights.
Prior to Whit’s involvement in Emergency Management, he held the positions of Captain of Fire Prevention, and Captain and Lieutenant of Recruitment Outreach with VFRS.
Since joining Ally, Whit has supported a number of clients through risk assessments, emergency exercises, and as a technical expert on matters related to fire and rescue services.
Whit holds a degree in Human Kinetics (UBC) and an Arts Diploma from Vancouver Community College.
